Tim Mains provides risk management services as a consultant with ConstructionRisk, LLC. This includes providing in-house training and conducting contract reviews.  He is an experienced corporate attorney and executive with an extensive background in legal and risk management issues, legislative and regulatory matters, claims resolution, litigation management, and risk management training.  He has served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a firm that specializes in performing property condition assessments, environmental site assessments, project management and construction management.  As General Counsel for the consulting firm, Tim has had responsibility for legal, risk management, and contract matters and for establishing and enforcing legal and risk management policies and procedures as well as the insurance program, and has provided legislative and regulatory advice to technical staff with respect to issues that arise on clients’ due diligence projects.

Tim previously worked for the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) where he was the Vice President of Government Affairs and Business Policy. In this role, his primary responsibilities involved creating and advancing the association’s legislative and regulatory agenda at the federal and state level, advising and educating owners on the use of the design-build method of project delivery and providing legal and risk management guidance to the association, the Board and the membership. Prior to that, Tim spent over 15 years as in-house counsel with a number of nationally recognized environmental and engineering consulting firms including NUS Corporation, Dow Environmental and Radian International.

Tim is a published author and lecturer on topics such as risk management, procurement, licensure and lobbying. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and received his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
